Located in the heart of Baltimore’s historic district at 115 N Charles St, David and Dad’s Cafe is a charming café and restaurant that perfectly blends classic Baltimore warmth with a diverse, crave-worthy menu. Nestled within a beautiful old building, its inviting ambiance pairs effortlessly with the aroma of freshly brewed cappuccinos and sizzling breakfast fare, making it a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.
David and Dad’s is a celebration of hearty, soul-satisfying American cuisine with a creative twist. The breakfast offerings alone are a compelling reason to visit, with standout dishes such as their flaky, buttery biscuits and the indulgent Meat Lovers Omelette loaded with savory goodness. For those who love a sweet-and-savory combo, the Chicken & Waffles is a crowd-pleaser, its crispy fried chicken complementing golden, fluffy waffles drizzled with syrup.
The café excels beyond breakfast too, with an array of sandwiches that capture bold flavors and fresh ingredients. The Italian Panini—featuring capicola ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, and marinated onion—delivers a perfect medley of textures and tastes, elevated by the roasted red pepper parmesan mayo that keeps you coming back for more. Equally impressive is the Grilled Portobello Panini, where earthy mushrooms are balanced by creamy feta and roasted peppers, all embraced by perfectly grilled Italian bread.
Beverage choices further elevate the dining experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a rich and frothy cappuccino, a revitalizing cold brew, or a uniquely fresh matcha latte, David and Dad’s offers the perfect companion to your meal or a leisurely moment of indulgence. For those seeking a refreshing treat, the bright Berry Workout Smoothie and creamy milk tea add vibrant options to the menu.
What truly sets this café apart is its atmosphere—a warm blend of classic charm and energetic hustle. Visitors often find themselves enchanted by the historic architecture, which adds a layer of authenticity and character to every visit. As Beth Thomas noted, the ambiance is as much a draw as the food, describing it as “a beautiful old historic building” that makes every meal special.
Customer service here doesn’t disappoint either. Friendly, attentive, and efficient, the staff at David and Dad’s take pride in making patrons feel at home. Daniel Cahill’s experience, while noting a seasonal breakfast cutoff time, still highlights the quality and freshness evident in their sandwiches and fruit cups. Chris Doherty’s story of an affordable, flavorful buffalo chicken wrap delivered right to his door underscores their commitment to meeting customer needs, even amidst busy times.
Whether you’re fueling up before a courthouse jury duty, grabbing a quick lunch across from work like Sarah Kelly, or just meandering through downtown Baltimore like Kevin McFarland, David and Dad’s Cafe welcomes you with open arms and a menu that eagerly caters to a variety of tastes and cravings. It’s a place where the food feels handmade, the atmosphere invites lingering, and each visit leaves you with the warm satisfaction of having discovered something wonderfully authentic and delicious.
Quality turkey and bacon sandwich, and fresh variety of fruit cup. They were, however, sold out of the breakfast sandwiches and breakfast items. I was there at lunchtime on the weekend, they said after 10:30 AM no more breakfast items FYI.
Beautiful Old Classic Baltimore Building! Great Food! Great Customer Service!!! I've Added it to my Go To List!!! Visited again this morning! Wanted to try breakfast! So Good. Love this place. Was slammed at work, so ordered from here and asked for a delivery. Got a daily special - a delicious, buffalo chicken wrap (just the right amount of heat) and a bag of chips, for $10.95. You're not going to beat that price anywhere, for a proper hot sandwich and side. But, get this, I made a mistake when ordering, causing the delivery driver to have to make an entire separate trip, for $11!, back to where he had just left, and he could not have been nicer or more professional. Name is Eddie. Class act. This is a great outfit - food and people - and I have eaten here over 100 times, literally, so this is not just based on one good chicken sandwich. :-)
Fantastic Italian Panini and lemonade. Really great buttery bread cooked perfectly; banana peppers were a nice touch. Really fast delicious lunch spot for jurors at the courthouse across the street.
We stumbled upon David’s and Dad’s Cafe while walking to a parking garage after checking out of our hotel, and it turned out to be one of the best surprises of our trip! We had two bagel sandwiches and coffee, and everything was great. The menu has a huge variety, so there’s something for everyone. The service was top notch, and the space itself has an incredible, cool vibe with that old building charm. Big shout out to the busboy — he was everywhere, keeping the room running smoothly with a friendly smile the whole time. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Baltimore — we can’t wait to come back!
My son introduced me to David and Dad’s. We ordered carry-out breakfast. The cinnamon french toast was delicious, as well as the turkey sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese, and sweet tea. The cafe offered a relaxed atmosphere under an aesthetically pleasing ceiling with intricate molding and lighting along with huge windows used for outside viewing as well as a partition between the bar and cafe room. There were ample tables and seating available. Staff were pleasantly helpful. Customers waited patiently with a number given to each. No sad faces. Orders did not take long. The food selection was vast. Napkins and utensil were of high quality. I loved David and Dad’s! Plan to return in the near future. By the way, they also cater. I caught glimpse of a huge box lunch catering order being prepared in a separate room.
What an amazing place!! A repurposed bank that has become a trendy breakfast eatery that offers a ton of different items including traditional breakfast plates and also more modern options like smoothies. I tried the avocado toast and unfortunately neglected to get a picture because, and trust me in this, if you could see the plating, you'd drive there for an order right now! A delicious balsamic drizzle takes it over the top! Just when I thought I was satisfied, we tried the smoothies and I highly recommend the peanut butter banana for a filling and slightly sweet treat! The coffee comes with free refills which is a nice touch. My only critique is that the way the tables are arranged makes the eating area a bit tight and somewhat difficult to make your way through the tables, like when you want to fix your coffee. I recommend a different arrangement to help open it up some more. Have a great breakfast here!
Great decor and atmosphere. Clean. Great menu. Reasonable prices. David and Dad's is in an old building that used to be a bank. It has the wow effect for sure. It is hard to find a good deli anymore, so I'm glad I found this place. I would put it on par with McAllisters. Great offerings of deli sandwiches and staples like cole slaw and potato salad, as well as soups, salads, cheese steak, fries, and some hot entrees. My roast beef sandwich was piled high with everything that I wanted. The bread was good and soft too. But I wish that they would spread the meat out to the edges of the bread so that the sandwhich was flat. They had a nice complimentary water station set up, and they also had staff to take away your dishes. The restrooms were on the lower level and they looked clean, however, the floor was all sticky, so I decided not to even use it. Overall, it was a nice place and I will go back.
